Optimising content for AI search

Optimising content for AI search engines means writing and structuring pages so a model can cite a passage without guessing.

That is content work: question, answer, source. Not a bolted-on SEO layer afterwards.

What makes content quotable for AI?

An opening that answers the H1. A definition that still holds up on its own. Steps or criteria you could read aloud. Your own observation, not 'in a world where'.

Vague language and a sales pitch in the first half make a page useless as a source. Palan writes as if the block may land in ChatGPT — because that is the same reader as the person on the site.

Which structures do AI systems pick up?

One H1, question H2s, short paragraphs, a FAQ at the bottom. Schema helps machines recognise the type; it does not replace the copy.

One primary question per page. Internal links up to the service, sideways to related explainers. That is a cluster, not a blog dump.

How do you optimise content for AI search engines?

You optimise content for AI search engines by letting each page answer one question, with citable blocks and a clean heading structure. Palan does that as a content agency, not an SEO agency: the text has to work for people and be extractable for models. Markup without that substance is decoration.

Checklist per page

  1. 01H1 as the question people actually ask.
  2. 02Answer in the first two or three sentences.
  3. 03A definition or step list that still holds up without the rest.
  4. 04A FAQ of three real questions, each 40 to 60 words.
  5. 05Link up to the service page; no second page on the same word.

Frequently asked questions

Is this GEO or AEO?

Those labels describe the same work: content an answer engine can use. Palan does not sell them as a product name. We make the pages. The acronym does not change the checklist: one question, a citable block, clean headings. Selling the term without that build is jargon.

Does every page need FAQ schema?

Only if real questions and complete answers are on the page. Empty FAQs for schema are noise. Three client questions at 40 to 60 words do more than ten fake ones. Palan puts schema on what is there, not to fill an empty block.

Does this replace classic content strategy?

No. First the question and the format, then this build. Optimising without strategy is tidy pages on the wrong topic. The cluster still hangs off the service, not off a tool. Palan starts with strategy; AI visibility is the build on top.
